The Community Partnership for Children's Dental Health provides school-based screenings, cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants by a licensed hygienist and education about practicing good oral hygiene at home.
Since its inception in 2002, the Dental Partnership has screened over 1000 third grade students at the six central school districts in Columbia County.
In 2007 the program sub-contracted the Article 28 (service provision) component of the grant to Columbia Memorial Hospital. CMH will conduct the preventive treatment services to third grade children in Columbia County. The Healthcare Consortium will conduct oral health education for parents on children’s oral health and hygiene at HEAD START, WIC clinics and other interested daycare centers. Dr. Bob Potrzeba, DDS, will do the education component for the Healthcare Consortium.
Oral health care kits will be distributed to pregnant women at WIC clinics. Oral health care packets will be distributed to new moms giving birth at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
