Medical Emergency
Vial of Life Program
a collaboration with The Healthcare Consortium
389 Fairview Avenue
Hudson, NY 12534
(518) 822-8820

Every six months or so, people who have the Vial of Life in their refrigerator should make sure the medical information in the vial is up to date. Naturally, whenever your medical condition changes or you are taking a new prescription, the information should also be updated -- even if six months hasn't passed. The information in the vial can help save your life in a medical emergency. Providing accurate information assures EMS personnel will react appropriately for the given situation. It also gives family members information that they might not already know. Also, if you have a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) Order, be sure to place a copy of it in the vial, too. Without it, EMS is required by law to try to revive a victim.
