You can purchase a lifetime entrance pass to national parks, monuments, historic sites, recreation areas and national wildlife refuges for $10. This also entitles you to a 50% discount on fees for facilities and services, such as camping, swimming, parking, boat launching and cave tours. Free to the blind and disabled of any age. Lifetime entrance permits and discounts on fees to federal parks, monuments, historic sites and recreation areas throughout the U.S. Obtain passport in person at all National Park Service and Forest Service offices and National Park service areas where entrance fees are charged.

New York State residents 62 and older may receive free vehicle access to state parks and recreational facilities, fee reduction to state historic sites and reductions on costs for some park activities.

Empire State Senior Games

This program combines sports and games with fitness, fun and fellowship while encouraging fitness as a lifelong activity for people age 55 and older. The State Office for the Aging and local offices for the aging cooperate with the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation on this annual event.

New York Sporting Licenses

There are various discounts and fee waivers which may apply to military disabled or seniors over 65 for hunting and fishing licenses. Check with your local town or village clerk.

The Arts Council produces programs that advance the arts, including the following:

  • Hudson Artwalk - An annual event held Saturday and Sunday of Columbus Day weekend.
  • Benefit Halloween Party and Auction - Raises funds for arts council activities each October.
  • Juried Art Show - Held each January.
  • Art Space - Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson - Project of CCCA & Greene County Council on the Arts. Works of local artists are exhibited on a rotating, quarterly basis.
  • “Arts Alive” Newsletter - Provides cultural news, listings, and artists' profiles.
